Introduction
My name is Alonzo Rico, I’m a senior CS student at TUJ and I am on my way to graduating by the end of 2026!
How I got into CS
My journey in CS began in high school when I first took a C programming class as an elective. I got hooked on the idea and began exploring the different concepts that encompass CS throughout high school. Once entering TUJ, I sought to further widen my knowledge in the field, especially in databases and data science.
Why TUJ CS Society
I wouldn’t be made aware of the CS Society until my sophomore year at TUJ. I found the concept of a society/group of people in my major to be encouraging and comforting and wanted to be apart of it as much as I could. I knew that CS wasn’t a major that one could just go about on their own. It was nice sharing in the struggles and successes that CS offered and I’m happy to say that I’m slowly becoming a big part of it before I graduate.
What I do: Passions, Hobbies, Interests
Apart from CS, I really enjoy sports like basketball and volleyball, particularly the NBA. I also enjoy just staying active in workin out and going out and exploring my environment.
What plans I have for the CS Society
As for the CS Society, I recently just held a GitHub Workshop with my other club, Coding Club, with the help of CS Society. So I’m hoping to either host one more event that’s similar or assist in a big event hosted by the CS Society. Whatever can get the community together, I’d like to be a part of.
That’s pretty much it for me, I wish the best for my peers and I as we reach the finish line of our education. And to all the future computer scientists who will hopefully follow in our stead, I wish them the best of luck on their journey!
